TIRANA, Albania (AP) — The Albanian Parliament has asked Europe's top human rights body to rescind a 2011 resolution that cited since-unsubstantiated allegations of human organ harvesting during the 1990s war in Kosovo.

The parliament voted 125-0 late Thursday in favor of a motion asking the Council of Europe to clear both Albania and Kosovo of the organ trafficking claims. Supporters said such an action would help normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is criticizing Greece for allegedly violating the terms of a settlement that has governed relations between the rivals for nearly a century. In a statement Sunday on the 99th anniversary of the Lausanne Treaty, Erdogan accused Athens of undermining the rights of the Muslim minority in Greece’s Thrace region. The 1923 treaty was signed by the new Republic of Turkey to settle disputes with the Allies, including Greece, following World War I and the Turkish War of Independence. Ankara has recently complained that Greece has violated the treaty by militarizing the islands.

Henderson won the Women’s PGA Championship in 2016 at the age of 18.

Kentucky’s largest school district will require universal masking on school property. The requirement comes as Jefferson County moves into the highest level of COVID-19 community spread. Media outlets report that the change begins Monday and lasts until Jefferson County comes out of the red. It comes a little more than two weeks before classes resume in Jefferson County Public Schools. Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear a mask on district property or on school buses.

Defending Formula One champion Max Verstappen has won the French Grand Prix after Charles Leclerc crashed out as Ferrari’s woes resurfaced, falling 63 points behind the Red Bull driver in the championship. Lewis Hamilton finished second in his 300th GP _ securing a fourth-straight podium _ while George Russell overtook Sergio Perez’s Red Bull following a virtual safety car restart late in the race to give Mercedes its first podium double of the season. Leclerc’s race ended on Lap 18 when he lost the rear of his car coming out of Turn 11, spinning 360 degrees before crashing into a tire wall.

Truck drivers and travelers seeking to cross from the U.K. into France faced major disruptions and long waiting times for a third day on the weekend that kicks off the summer holidays for many British families. Huge lines have formed since Friday at both the Port of Dover for those taking car ferries across the English Channel and in nearby Folkestone on roads leading to the Eurotunnel that goes under the Channel to France. Eurotunnel said drivers were still facing a wait of at least 90 minutes Sunday to check-in for the railway shuttle. British officials and politicians have blamed the chaos on staffing shortages at French border posts, an accusation denied by the French.

A volcano on Japan’s main southern island of Kyushu has erupted, spewing ash and rocks into the night sky. There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries in nearby towns but residents were advised to evacuate following the eruption of Sakurajima volcano on Sunday. Large rocks are falling as far as 1.5 miles away in the southern prefecture of Kagoshima and footage showed dark smoke of ash billowing from the mountaintop. Japan's agency has raised the eruption alert to the highest level of five and about 120 people were told leave their homes. Sakurajima is one of the most active volcanos in Japan and has repeatedly erupted. It used to be an island but became a peninsula.

Nicolas Lodeiro got the go-ahead goal in the 71st minute when he converted his third penalty kick of the season, helping the Seattle Sounders rally past the Colorado Rapids 2-1. Seattle won despite finishing a man short after midfielder Kelyn Rowe was ejected in the 47th minute for receiving his second yellow card. Jordan Morris tied the score in the 43rd minute with his sixth league goal this season, ending a 343-minute scoreless streak for Seattle. Lodeiro converted the penalty after Morris was tripped by goalkeeper William Yarbrough.

Jesús Ferreira scored his team-high 12th goal of the season in the 14th minute, leading Dallas to a 1-0 victory that ended Real Salt Lake’s 10-match home unbeaten streak. Ferreira connected with a left-footed shot from 8 yards off a pass from Paxton Pomykal after Paul Arriola intercepted a throw-in. Ferreira is second in Major League Soccer in scoring behind New York City’s Valentín Castellanos. The 21-year-old Ferreira became the second MLS player with 30 career goals  and 20 assists at 21 or younger, according to Opta, behind New England’s Diego Fagúndez.

Ships in the Mediterranean Sea have rescued over 1,100 people struggling to reach Europe in rickety smugglers' boats and found five bodies. The Italian Coast Guard said Sunday that Italian vessels recovered the bodies Saturday as they rescued 674 people packed on a fishing boat adrift in the Mediterranean off the Libyan coast. Some survivors had to be plucked from the sea 120 miles off the coast of Calabria.  All have been brought to ports in Calabria and Sicily. The German charity Sea-Watch said it rescued 428 migrants trying to cross the sea to Europe and needed a port to bring them to. Migrant arrivals in Italy this are up by nearly one-quarter from 2021, with over 34,000 recorded.

Pope Francis plans to apologize to Indigenous groups on Canadian soil for harms inflicted at church-run residential schools. When he does, Francis will add to the Catholic Church's growing ledger of atonement for past transgressions. Like the papacy, top Protestant leaders also have gradually issued institutional mea culpas for their churches’ historical wrongs. Many of the apologies on behalf of Christian denominations are for grave offenses: genocide, sex abuse, slavery, war and more. While increasingly common, these apologies are a relatively modern phenomenon. Not everyone agrees they are effective and several say they must be accompanied by further actions aimed at healing.

Political challenges at home are making it tough for President Joe Biden to fulfill his promises to the rest of the world. Biden has made pledges or reached deals on climate change, taxes and pandemic relief, but legislation for all of those issues has stalled on Capitol Hill. The White House defends Biden's record by noting that he's secured nearly $54 billion in military and financial assistance for Ukraine in the war against Russia. But congressional roadblocks are an impediment for a president who declared “America is back” after taking office last year. The result is an administration straining to maintain its credibility abroad while Biden fights a rearguard action on Capitol Hill.

A bill to boost semiconductor production in the United States has managed to do nearly the unthinkable — unite Sen. Bernie Sanders and the tea party. The bill making its way through the Senate is a top priority of the Biden administration. It would subsidize computer chip manufacturers through grants and tax breaks when they build or expand chip plants in the U.S. Supporters say the U.S. must join other nations courting the chip industry or risk losing a secure supply of semiconductors. But Sanders and a wide range of conservative lawmakers, think tanks and media outlets have a different take on the bill. They call the effort “corporate welfare.”

Political divides in the U.S. seem deeper than ever, but one of the few shared sentiments right now from voters of all stripes is the desire for something different. Democrats are contending with President Joe Biden’s stalled domestic agenda. Republicans are contending with party leader and former President Donald Trump still focusing on his false claims of fraud in the 2020 election and the fallout from the House committee investigating the Capitol riot. The possibility that the 2024 presidential race could look like a rematch from 2020, with 79-year-old Biden facing 76-year-old Trump, has voters on both sides wondering if there’s someone else who can carry their parties into the future.

The White House COVID-19 coordinator says President Joe Biden is feeling “much, much better” after testing positive for the coronavirus. And Dr. Ashish Jha confirms that the 79-year-old Biden was infected with a highly contagious variant spreading throughout the country. Jha tells CBS' “Face the Nation” that “it is the BA.5 variant ... but thank goodness our vaccines and therapeutics work well against it, which is why I think the president’s doing well.” Officials have emphasized that Biden's symptoms are mild because he received four vaccine doses and started taking the antiviral drug Paxlovid after becoming infected. Jha pledged that the White House would keep giving updates on the president’s condition and whether he might have long-term symptoms.

LOS ANGELES — The University of California, facing record surges in applications, is aiming to increase seats for California students by as many as 33,000 by 2030 — the equivalent of building a new campus.

Police say two apparent homophobic attacks have been reported following Berlin’s annual pro-LGBTQ Christopher Street Day celebration. In one incident on Saturday, three teenagers were confronted by a group of nine people in Berlin’s Mitte neighborhood at approximately 8 p.m. They made anti-gay remarks and one girl was tripped and punched in the face by a man in the group, police said. Several hours later, a group of eight people made aimed insults at a 32-year-old man in central Berlin and attacked him, kicking his head and upper body. The incidents came at the end of a day in which around 350,000 people came out to support LGBTQ rights around the city.

China has launched one of two laboratory modules to complete its permanent orbiting space station. The Wentian was launched from tropical Hainan Island with a large crowd of amateur photographers and space enthusiasts watching. Designed for science and biology experiments, the module lifted off on the Long March 5B remote 3 rocket, and spent roughly eight minutes in flight before it entered orbit, according to the official Xinhua News Agency. A second lab module, called the Mengtian, is due to be launched in October, and both will join the Tiangong space station. Three astronauts are already living in the core module and will oversee the arrival and docking of the lab.

Russian defense ministry officials are insisting that an airstrike on the port of Odesa — less than a day after Russia and Ukraine signed an agreement on resuming grain shipments from there — hit only military targets. The ministry spokesman said Saturday's attack destroyed a docked Ukrainian warship and a warehouse containing anti-ship missiles. Russia and Ukraine on Friday signed identical agreements with the U.N. and Turkey in Istanbul aimed at clearing the way for the shipment of millions of tons of desperately needed Ukrainian grain, as well as the export of Russian grain and fertilizer. The agreement, obtained by The Associated Press, committed both Kyiv and Moscow to refraining from strikes on the three Black Sea ports.

Philippine officials say at least three people including a former town mayor have been killed and another wounded in a brazen attack by a gunman in a university campus in the capital region. The gunman was captured after the shooting Sunday at a gate of the Ateneo de Manila University in suburban Quezon city. The university was put under lockdown and the graduation rite at a law school canceled. The Supreme Court chief justice was supposed to be a guest speaker at the ceremony and was advised to turn back on his way to campus. Investigators are trying to determine a motive for the attack, which happened despite heavy security ahead of Monday's address to Congress by the newly elected president, Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
